I had used up the last of my canvas boards and instead of buying more had panels the same size cut out of quarter-inch hardboard. These I carefully sanded and gessoed myself. On this smooth, firm surface I could attain new heights of detail. I did this cityscape from my imagination, inspired by Chicago. The sign in script is purposely unreadable.
