Many of my paintings are dark, a light source— such as a moon or light bulb— the only bright spots. Here the darkness is so intense that nothing more than reflected light visible through the doorway serves as both the bright spot and center-of-interest of the painting. A shadow is the only suggestion that a figure is standing in the lit room adjoining.
