The buildup of paint here approaches my maximum in any of my works, perhaps as thick as three-eighths of an inch— a centimeter or more. It is predominantly a mixture of alkyd resin and white lead (flake white). This lower left corner probably weighs more than the entire rest of the painting. Wouldn’t these hands look awesome carved huge, in a mountain?
