While the original of this work can be enjoyed in adequate light with the unaided eye, for maximum enjoyment I would have a low to medium power (2x-6x) lens handy. Upon application of still higher power— e.g. a 10x Hastings— not only can the finest detail and textures be gathered but irregularities and other technical imperfections discerned.
