Nothing like a lone car on the highway at night to cop a plea of mystery and disquiet. Add a sleepy farmhouse with darkened windows and reclusive spook-light and you have the trappings of noir on canvas-board. The sign is purposefully made unreadable so the viewer will know even less than the driver about what lies beyond the indefinite horizon.
