This is a painting that I’d wanted to paint for years, and was one case where I was as happy with the result as I’d been with the mental conception. Ever since Volcano I’d wanted to work more with fire out of darkness, as well as action (the apocalyptic vision) out of inaction (the ambient indifference implicit in the garage facade).
