This was one of the most exciting and satisfying paintings I have ever done. Because I had to rush it to the show, it was in a fragile state when hung— consequently there’s a chance it was damaged during the theft. The highest buildup, the volcano itself, was dry to the touch but not yet firm. The painting, being on a panel, was taken frame and all.
