Early in ’08 it seemed I was the only one in town, even among most Democrats, who wanted to see Obama nominated and elected. A black friend of mine who I was sure I could count on only said he would get shot so it wouldn’t be worth it to elect him. It was pretty cool seeing him move ahead of Clinton to win the nomination and later the Presidency.
