COURAGE

For the extreme skier or free climber,
    there’s always a mightier cliff;
for the despondent trying to check out,
    taller buildings and stronger pills.

These are but one of two opposing poles—
    the idler’s the other.
Since risk avoidance is life avoidance,
    either way can lead to death.
