After finishing the background I built the cross up from it, sculpting it out of paint the usual way and letting it dry. Then I used a gummy, semi-dried base to stretch the arms through the air, torso to the end of each beam where the hands would go. I built the body on this. Note the astronaut’s helmet on the ground just left-forward of the cross.
