This painting is designed to change in appearance depending on the viewing angle. The extrudes around the edge of the mothership are actually paint buildups of considerable depth. You can't see it in this straight-on view, but one side of each is painted green and the other red, so if viewed from one angle the lights appear green, from the other red.
