One of my favorite movies is 2001: A Space Odyssey— this work was inspired by the scene in which we see the monolith uncovered on the moon for the first time. Here instead of an excavation I used a sunken football field, lined with stone as in a Mayan ball court, and a giant football instead of a monolith. Even this planet’s moon resembles a football.
