As a kid there’d be that occasional summer weekend night when the parents would announce that we were going to the drive-in. We usually brought our own popcorn and other refreshments. The ads for concessions and coming attractions would start while it still seemed like broad daylight, yet by the start of the first feature it was always dark enough.
