The operative word in this work is languid— from the lazy trunks with their droopy branches to the gentle lapping of the water on the beach to this figure as flat as melted butter. Perhaps the beam of light is a clarion call to some immediate, pressing, or urgent action; perhaps it is only a brief interruption of an otherwise timeless slumber.
