My second castle was a commodious room on the sixth floor of the Link Savoy Building in downtown Indianapolis, which came with its own sink and fridge. I’d been hired as a drafting trainee by the Paul J. Grunau Company at four-fifty a month, with promises of a raise. Instead I was let go. Shortly thereafter I was the victim of a strong-arm robbery.
