The town in which I live, Paducah, Kentucky, is on the lower Ohio River, not far from where it empties into the Mississippi. As a result the city has had a history of floods. Perhaps the most famous one, in 1937, resulted in the construction of this high floodwall. This is a portion in the downtown area, taken before murals adorned any of it.
